You are going to lose weight.
People who follow the Atkins diet typically lose weight faster than those on other types of diets. In fact, according to a study conducted by the Cleveland Clinic, low-carb dieters lose eight pounds more than dieters who focus on low-fat diets.
Your bad cholesterol levels will get lower.
When you are on the Atkins diet, you will likely see your triglyceride and bad cholesterol (LDL) levels drop. Your good cholesterol (HDL) may also increase. Keep in mind that high LDL levels are often associated with heart disease.
You do not have to track your fat intake.
The Atkins diet does not require you to keep track of how much fat you consume. Studies show that even though this diet is more high in fat than others, it does not seem to increase your risk of heart disease.
You will not feel as hungry all the time.
Did you know that eating more fat can help you feel full for longer periods of time? When you are on the Atkins diet, your appetite will decrease, making it easier to stick to your diet.
There is a vegetarian version of the Atkins diet.
Who ever said that the Atkins diet was for meat eaters only? There is a vegetarian version of this diet that focuses on plant-based fats and proteins that come from sources such as beans, seeds, and nuts. Just remember that while you may be avoiding some of the negative impacts of the traditional Atkins diet, the vegetarian version is more difficult to follow.
